Togo has seen significant infrastructure development in recent years, mainly thanks to public investment: 80% of paved roads planned for 2025, numerous bridges built or rehabilitated and a focus on urban planning.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The challenge now is to capitalize on these achievements by developing a new generation of infrastructure, thus putting in place the connections necessary for the development of the natural logistics corridor that Togo constitutes.<\/p>\n

In order to develop cross-border trade and stimulate its growth, Togo, supported by strong partners, is working to modernize three strategic areas.<\/p>\n

After completing the capital's bypass five years ago, as well as the roads in the Ago\u00e8-Nyiv\u00e9 Prefecture, in the north of the city, three strategic roads are currently being modernized. The work is scheduled for completion in 2022. <\/p>\n

The works on the Lom\u00e9-Sanvee Condji Fre Benin National Road 2 (RN2), towards the East, which consist of the construction of a 2x2 lane roadway over 30 km with a central reservation (TPC) to ease traffic flow on this major regional corridor between Abidjan and Lagos, but also to combat coastal erosion.<\/p>\n

The 30 km currently being rehabilitated between the towns of Av\u00e9pozo and An\u00e9ho and the coastal protection with the construction of 31 groins are part of a major project financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Union (EU), the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and other donors. On the first ten kilometers in Togo (Av\u00e9pozo-Togokom\u00e9), the road works including the control and supervision of said works, estimated at 15.3 billion CFA francs including tax, are being carried out by a Chinese company (CRBC). For the rehabilitation of the following 20 kilometers (Togokom\u00e9-An\u00e9ho), the cost of which is estimated at 36.16 billion CFA francs including the control and supervision of the related works, the Tunisian Roads and Buildings Company (SOROUBAT) is the contractor for the works.<\/span><\/p>\n

The RN1, which links Lom\u00e9 and Cinkass\u00e9 to the north (on the border with Burkina Faso), is 700 km long, is being planned to be doubled and extensively modernized into a 2x2 lane road.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The International Development Association (IDA, a World Bank institution) announced in July 2021 that it would release $470 million as part of the Lom\u00e9-Ouagadougou-Niamey Economic Corridor Project to help Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger improve regional connectivity along this route that links the three capitals. The process is underway with the progress of the rehabilitation project for the Aouda-Kara road section (115 km) on the RN1.<\/p>\n

The third major road project concerns the RN 5 on the Lom\u00e9-Kpalim\u00e9 section (Kpalim\u00e9, a town located 120 km northwest of Lom\u00e9), i.e. 120 km of roadway which is currently being rehabilitated and widened.<\/p>\n

Work began in June 2020 for an expected duration of thirty-six months and an estimated total cost of 195 billion CFA francs, including basins in Lom\u00e9 and the development of roads in the town of Kpalim\u00e9.<\/p>\n
