The project, supervised by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MINPOSTEL), aims to increase digital inclusion and the use of digital agriculture solutions by smallholder farmers in targeted agricultural value chains. Thus, the PATNUCC embodies the digital transformation approach targeting a highly strategic sector for Cameroon, while proposing to reform the regulatory framework of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.<\/p>\n

Intended to finance the PATNuC, the World Bank credit agreement amounting to $100 million, or approximately FCFA 50.2 billion, was signed on December 23, 2022. The signing of this new credit agreement brings the total commitments of the World Bank Group to nearly FCFA 1,900 billion for 21 projects in Cameroon. The said Project aims to strengthen digital inclusion and the use of digital agricultural solutions in the agricultural value chain in Cameroon.<\/p>\n

The desired impact of this project is to increase digital inclusion, improve the contribution of this subsector to growth, create jobs, and reduce poverty. Thanks to the financing provided by the World Bank, the aim is to create a genuine strategic, political, and regulatory framework conducive to inclusive digital transformation in the country. This project should also lead to better digital coverage and enable the establishment of databases facilitating innovation and the application of digital solutions in rural development, specifically in agriculture and livestock farming. It is expected that production will improve and a gradual shift toward smart agriculture will be achieved in light of the many constraints imposed by climate change.<\/p>

Furthermore, the digital transformation of government can enable Cameroon to move towards a more horizontal governance model based on data transparency and greater collaboration with civil society in formulating public policies. Digital transformation, triggered by ICT, has the potential to help Cameroon reshape its core business processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cameroon is well-off in terms of internet capacity. It is up to the stakeholders responsible for operating these optical fibers to develop an economic model.<\/p>\n

A key asset of Cameroon is its human infrastructure. The Cameroonian ecosystem is marked by the growing creation of start-up support structures. The Cameroonian public sector has also created incubators associated with universities and public colleges (Technopole of the Polytechnic School of Yaound\u00e9, Sup'ptic Business Academy of the National School of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information and Communication Technologies). Digital culture is indeed accompanied by digital training structures and the desire to bring about a digital transformation of decision-makers and businesses. The potential of the digital economy in Africa is estimated to be $300 billion in 2025, or 10% of African GDP.<\/p>\n

The Digital House<\/b><\/div>\n
Inaugurated in February 2022, the Cameroon Digital Innovation Centre (CDIC) was eagerly awaited by young ICT project leaders. Now, a digital ecosystem generator is within their reach. Cameroonian startups can receive support and coaching from experts at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (Minpostel). This leap forward in the development of the made-in-Cameroon digital economy responds to President Paul Biya's concern for skilled young Cameroonians to truly propel Cameroon towards digital emergence. This Cyber Park is managed by young engineers from Minpostel. The CDIC's organization is innovative, as the various departments include leaders from the first batch of startups. The most experienced will mentor the younger ones under the supervision of Minpostel.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
