These efforts have been reflected at the institutional, legal and regulatory levels, in terms of digital infrastructure, the promotion of technologies, innovation, training, etc. A key to Gabon's success lies in the ambitious deployment of national and international digital infrastructure. It is one of the few areas in the region with 4G coverage, and has invested heavily in the construction of a network of more than 1,100 km of terrestrial fiber optics from Libreville (landing station for submarine cables), to ensure broadband coverage across the entire national territory but also interconnection with other countries in the sub-region.<\/p>\n

These achievements are part of the regional "Central African Backbone" (CAB4) project, co-financed by the World Bank and the African Development Bank. CAB-Gabon will move on to phase 2 of the project with the objective of extending the fiber optic network by laying an additional 2,185 km of cable to connect the hinterland, creating two data centers and a Computer Attack Alert and Response Center (CSIRT).<\/p>\n

The modernization of the administration is underway with the launch of the first online e-government services. "eGabon 2025" provides for a government internet portal, a national digital identification system, an electronic payment system, and online administrative services. Gabon has thus launched structural projects to ensure the connectivity of administrations, with 124 administrative buildings wired and 78 interconnected.<\/p>\n

It also aims to modernize the national health information system to promote equitable access to healthcare. For example, the Open Street Map Libreville project offers freely accessible, up-to-date digital mapping of healthcare facilities in the capital and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

One of the government's objectives is to fully bring Gabonese companies into the digital age to strengthen their growth, profits and job creation.<\/p>\n
