Togo continues to play a leading role in revitalizing cooperation relations within the Organisation of African, Caribbean and European States (OACE).\u00a0<\/span>and the Pacific (OACP, formerly known as the ACP Group of States) and\u00a0<\/span>the European Union (EU) especially in the negotiations for the new\u00a0<\/span>partnership agreement between the OACPS and the EU.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Recognized for its commitment on the international stage, Togo has coordinated in recent years, with diplomacy, the activities of the Central Negotiating Group for the new Post-Cotonou Agreements in its capacity as chief negotiator for the 79 member countries constituting the OACPS Group.<\/p>\n

A winning strategy, after more than two years of intense negotiations which began at the end of the work of the 43rd session of the OACPS-EU Council of Ministers and the 107th session of the Council of Ministers of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) which were held in Lom\u00e9 in May 2018, with the adoption of the Post-Cotonou negotiating mandate.<\/p>\n

The new partnership agreement between the European Union (EU) and the members of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) thus marks the official conclusion of the negotiations of the post-Cotonou agreement, which sets the framework for political, economic and sectoral cooperation for the next twenty years.<\/p>\n

This new agreement significantly modernizes cooperation and broadens the scope and scale of the ambitions of the EU and the OACPS in order to better address current and future challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The partners have strengthened their commitments in priority areas such as human rights, democracy and governance, peace and security, human development, which includes health, education and gender equality, as well as environmental sustainability, climate change, sustainable development and growth, migration and mobility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The agreement also includes a regional dimension and a new and strengthened governance structure, tailored to the needs of each region, for the first time in over forty years of collaboration.<\/p>\n

It is worth recalling that four conventions were signed in the Togolese capital. The country also hosted the 22nd session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly in November 2011. The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) was formerly known as the "ACP Group of States." The new name came into effect on April 5, 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n
