The Economic and Regional Programme (ERP) of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), adopted in 2011, aims to consolidate and complete regional integration. Cameroon is considered the agricultural hub and economic engine of the sub-region.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 2019, in view of the financial and economic crises, in a constrained budgetary context and the heavy debt of each of its members, the heads of state of the Community decided to concentrate the "infrastructure" component of the PER on eleven priority integration projects, the total amount of which is estimated at nearly 4.1 billion euros - for which they have mobilized the donors -, the completion of these projects being planned over five years (2021-2025).<\/p>\n

The sub-regional integration projects impacting Cameroon include the construction of a bridge over the Ntem River, facilitating transport and improving road safety on the Kribi-Campo-Bata transnational road linking Cameroon to Equatorial Guinea; the construction of the Lolab\u00e9-Campo expressway (40 km) between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea; the hydroelectric development of the Chollet dam and Cameroon-Gabon-Congo-CAR power lines; the interconnection of Cameroon and Chad power grids; the interconnection of Cameroon with other CEMAC countries by fiber optics; the construction of the Beloko dry port (Douala-Bangui corridor); and the construction of the Cameroon-Congo Inter-State University (UIECC).<\/span><\/p>\n

Cameroon possesses enormous natural resources and a dynamic economy and social environment that give it significant influence in the sub-region. The Bank of Central African States (BEAC), the main monetary institution of the CEMAC, is headquartered in Yaound\u00e9, Cameroon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
