The DRC offers a diverse range of tourist attractions across different provinces which present multifaceted particularities capable of being exploited for the development of several types of tourism (seaside, cultural, leisure, discovery, business, safaris, etc.). A magnificent country containing enormous natural assets as unsuspected as they are attractive, the DRC presents diverse universes with an extraordinary cultural heritage carried by the several hundred ethnic groups which make up its population.<\/p>\n

Its rich ecosystem presents a variety of landscapes of exceptional beauty (savannahs, deep forests, mountains, mangroves, rivers and streams), itself shaped by the climatic diversity at work in Congo. As well as a unique fauna with many species endemic to the country including several emblematic specimens including the okapi, the bonobo, the mountain gorilla, the lowland gorilla, the Congolese peacock and, until recently, the white rhinoceros.<\/p>\n

This formidable reservoir of flora and fauna is notably present within the eight national parks and sixty-three reserves and natural areas that make up the DRC, several of which are included on UNESCO's list of world sites in danger. Most of these protected areas are facing serious problems (poaching, deforestation, plundering of natural resources, etc.) linked to the unrest that the country has experienced over the past fifteen years. All of this forms this unique country in many ways, of incredible beauty and richness, and of enormous ecotourism potential.<\/p>\n

The DRC is the only African country that is among the countries described as having the highest biodiversity in the world.<\/p>\n

To achieve the 2022 financial allocations, the Ministry of Tourism intends to operationalize the following strategies: the digitalization of the data collection system to enable the identification of taxable persons (hotels, restaurants, tourist sites, etc.); the revision of the decree classifying hotels and restaurants; the organization of joint DGRAD-Service missions; the adaptation of all texts currently being read at the level of different institutions; the creation of tourist expansion zones.<\/p>\n

Sharing common tourism products with neighboring countries and extending regional destinations are opportunities to increase existing markets and create new tourism markets in the Great Lakes, SADC, COMESA and ECCAS regions, of which the DRC is a part.<\/p>\n
