Togo boasts a wide variety of landscapes, making it a miniature Africa. To harness this potential, the National Development Plan (NDP), launched in March 2019, places significant emphasis on it, with the goal of increasing its contribution to GDP to 6.21 trillion pounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The government's 2020-2025 roadmap confirms this vision and also places particular emphasis on this high-potential sector. To achieve this, Lom\u00e9 is focusing on promoting and developing seaside, cultural, sports, and ecotourism tourism, with a particular focus on developing leisure tourism. Business tourism is also a sector to be developed, as the country is a major center in the West African sub-region. Indeed, the country, through its National Development Plan and roadmap, is displaying its ambition to become a regional business hub. <\/p>\n

The viability of the sector is still being tested worldwide by the persistence of the pandemic. At the national level, tourism statistics are no less disastrous. Tourist arrivals are estimated at 481,766 in 2020 compared to 946,376 in 2019, a decrease of 49,101 CFA francs. In terms of revenue, Togo recorded 19 billion CFA francs in 2020 compared to 53 billion CFA francs in 2019, a decrease of 641 CFA francs.<\/p>\n

\"\"However, in recent years, encouraging results and good figures have been obtained by Togolese tourism: a ranking as the 2nd business destination (behind Egypt) in terms of growth (+46%) in international tourist arrivals in 2017, more than 712,214 tourists registered in Togo in 2018 (+26% compared to 2017), 48 billion FCFA in revenue from the hotel sector collected, (+3 billion than in 2017).<\/span><\/p>\n

Togo boasts internationally renowned sites and monuments, including one listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a 45 km stretch of fine sandy beaches bathed by the Atlantic.<\/p>\n

Formed by savannah vegetation, the far north of Togo is rich in historical and cultural treasures and is full of multiple natural attractions. The Doung Lions' Den, the Nok and Mamproug Granary Caves, the Namoudjoga rock paintings, the Oti Alluvial Plain, and the Mandouri Hunting Reserve are all sites that attract tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kara region, rich in flora and fauna, is one of the most well-known outside, thanks to its diversity and its undeniable tourist attraction. It is home to the Koutammakou landscape (listed by UNESCO) and its Takienta, the Nangbani and Nangbani blast furnaces, the Djamd\u00e8 and Sarakawa nature reserves. It is also an important folkloric center with a mosaic of traditional dances and festivals (Akp\u00e9ma and Evala).<\/p>\n

Boasting a relatively flat landscape, the central region is also rich in natural attractions, the most important of which, Fazao-Malfakassa National Park, is often visited by safaris. The region is also renowned for its diverse range of artisanal activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Plateaux region is undoubtedly the country's main tourist center. Ch\u00e2teau Vial, Kamina Station, Pic d'Agou, the Wom\u00e9, Kpim\u00e9 and Akloa waterfalls, the Djogb\u00e9gan monastery, Lake Nangb\u00e9to, and the Agbogbo wall are all sites offering an unforgettable stay in the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mainly characterized by its coastline, the maritime region also boasts numerous attractions. Developed beaches, national and private museums and art centers, markets, slave houses, classified forests, architectural monuments, the region offers a rich and varied tourist experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

More than 500 accommodation establishments are listed throughout the country, not including guest houses from the highest to the most modest standards, with of course a high concentration in the maritime and plateau regions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each region has at least one large institution with ample capacity. Togo has 197 listed sites and monuments. Furthermore, since its creation, more than 600 cultural projects have been funded by the Cultural Assistance Fund (FAC).<\/p>\n

Togo's tourism and cultural sectors will see their legal frameworks strengthened. To this end, the government adopted the law on the Cinema and Animated Image Code in September 2021 and then announced that it would take steps towards ratifying the Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics.\u00a0<\/p>\n
