The DRC, with its strategic location in the center of Africa, its dynamic demographics, and its countless natural and mineral resources, constitutes an essential platform. Infrastructure is one of the government's priorities.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The government must achieve not only internal physical fluidity, but also interconnection with neighboring countries, by establishing quality infrastructure. Also, in its development strategy, in general, basic infrastructure and transport infrastructure in particular have been selected as pillar number two because of their multiplier effects. To this end, the government, with the support of its technical and financial partners, has mobilized resources for the rehabilitation\/construction of transport infrastructure (air, rail, road, river and maritime).<\/p>\n

For several decades, road infrastructure has been severely lacking in the DRC, which is hampering the country's socio-economic development. In 2019, the DRC had only 17% of its network in good condition and 3,000 km of paved roads (5% of the network over an area of 58,000 km).<\/p>\n

In recent years, several investment programs for road infrastructure with a 10-20 year horizon have been developed.<\/p>\n

We note the progress of projects such as Kinshasa zero-hole carried out with financing from the Public Treasury and the asphalting project of 5 arteries of the Kinshasa road network carried out with the support of technical and financial partners. <\/p>\n

\"\"Carried out in public-private partnership, the road infrastructure development program across the country called "Tshilejelu" (pilot project) is moving forward. <\/p>\n

In the city-province of Kinshasa, 39.72 km of roads are affected by this project, which will also extend into the Greater Kasai Area, also integrating the modernization of road infrastructure in certain cities and territories: Mbuji-Mayi, Kabinda, Lusambo, Kananga, Mweneditu and Tshikapa. The infrastructure projects in Kinshasa are estimated at $185 million. The duration of the works is 28 months for Kinshasa and 36 months for the Greater Kasai Area. The year 2022 saw the implementation of an ambitious development program for the country, across its 145 territories. The priorities identified in this program are: <\/p>\n

\u2013 Opening up territories through the rehabilitation of nearly 9,000 km and the maintenance of 30,000 km of agricultural service roads; <\/p>\n

\u2013 Improving access to electricity for rural communities, particularly through the construction of mini photovoltaic power plants; <\/p>\n

\u2013 Improving access to drinking water, through the construction of boreholes and the development of springs;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The construction of rural economic infrastructure, in particular, through the equipment of 748 health centers, more than 1,200 schools as well as the development of modern markets;\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2013 And finally, the restoration of state authority, starting with the construction of administrative buildings in all 145 territories.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The quality of transport and logistics infrastructure and services are undeniable factors in the establishment and development of industrial activity. If the DRC succeeds in creating a large-scale network of road, river, maritime, and airport infrastructure combined with efficient transport and logistics hubs, the conditions will be in place to develop higher value-added industrial activities \u2013 leading to job creation and territorial attractiveness. This is the rationale for major regional development projects such as the construction of the deep-water port of Banana, the optimization of the Kasumbalesa border transport terminal, and the expansion of the urban area of Goma.<\/p>\n

MODERNIZATION OF RAIL, AIR AND PORT INFRASTRUCTURES:<\/b>
\u00a0\u2022 Road network of 152,400 km, only 3,000 km paved;
\u2022 5,033 km railway network to be completely rehabilitated;
\u2022 Maritime, river and lake network of 16,238 km to be marked, dredged and exploited;
\u2022 270 airport platforms to be rebuilt;
\u2022 2 international seaports to be modernized;
Several inland ports to be equipped and dredged;
\u2022 Interconnection roads for economic hubs<\/p>\n
