Togo has ratified several international conventions and treaties relating to air transport in order to establish harmonized international legal instruments in the field of civil aviation safety and security, to standardize the management of the airspaces of the States concerned and to maintain a uniform regional level of acceptable safety.
The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), created by Law No. 2007-007 of January 22, 2007, replaced by Law No. 2016-011 of June 7, 2016, establishing the Civil Aviation Code, is the authority responsible for implementing the Togolese State's policy on civil aviation and for coordinating and supervising all civil aeronautical activities in accordance with national requirements and international standards and recommendations.

ANAC adheres to environmental protection initiatives and the ICAO's universal safety and security oversight programs. Within this framework, Togo's national safety and security oversight systems are regularly audited by ICAO. Furthermore, Togo is subject to security audits by the WAEMU and the TSA. To continuously improve its performance, ANAC has established, certified, and maintains its quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport (AIGE), which currently has an annual capacity of approximately 2 million passengers, plans to double its performance in the coming years, in line with government ambitions.
