Political situation: The last presidential election, the results of which were announced in January 2019 following a peaceful vote, marked the first peaceful transfer of power in Madagascar. With 55.6% of the vote, President Andry Rajoelina leads the country with his Prime Minister, Christian Ntsay. Several ministries have been merged to improve the efficiency of the public administration. The government has finalized its Madagascar Emergence Plan (PEM) 2019-2023 to stimulate growth and reduce poverty.
The parliamentary elections of May 27, 2019, resulted in a resounding victory for the presidential support platform, which won 84 of the 151 seats in the National Assembly.
