Gabon is counting on its manganese to accelerate its development, which implies increasing investments in terms of production and transport, but also in local processing in order to increase the share of value added produced locally.
Thanks to its Moanda mine in Gabon, Eramet is the world's leading producer of high-grade manganese ore and higher value-added manganese alloys, known as refined products. Operated by Comilog, a subsidiary of the group, this mine specializes in the extraction, processing, and transformation of this metal. With 251,000 metric tons of global manganese reserves, Moanda is one of the world's largest high-grade ore deposits. 2021 was a banner year for Eramet due to strong production growth, driven in particular by robust Asian demand and favorable selling prices.

Comilog, in which the Gabonese state holds a 291.3-tonne stake, distinguished itself through the operation of the Moanda mine, which produced 7 million tonnes of manganese (an increase of 211.3 tons compared to the previous year), generating a net profit of 89 billion CFA francs. The outlook is equally promising. In 2022, the Eramet Group will invest 134.5 billion CFA francs in Gabon for the development of production and transport infrastructure, including the rehabilitation of the railway. This comes in addition to the construction of the suspended port, which we built to improve our logistics capacity and allow us to handle significantly more mining freight.

In 2022, the Eramet Group, through Comilog, aims for a production of 7.5 million tonnes of manganese in Gabon, enough to consolidate the world's leading position held by the Moanda mine in Haut-Ogooué.
