The government aims to develop a local digital industry and "made in Cameroon" applications. The startup ecosystem is very dynamic and benefits from state support. To this end, the Cameroon Digital Innovation Center (CDIC), a national incubator, was created to support the development of the local digital entrepreneurship ecosystem and accelerate digital transformation. The KmerTech association, a Cameroonian network of support structures for innovative entrepreneurship, structures and unites more than 40 private incubators and accelerators with the support of the European Union. Telecommunications operators are key players in this drive; they covered 651 TP3Ts (Telecommunications Points to Territories) across the country with 3G/4G networks in 2020 (1001 TP3Ts in Yaoundé and Douala) and are becoming key players in the digital transformation through the integration of value-added services (professional solutions, Cloud, SaaS). In terms of infrastructure, the country has 6 data centers (Orange, MTN, Camtel, Campost, ST Digital, CDIC) and 25,000 km of fiber optic network. The digital transformation market was estimated at approximately €2.9 billion and represented 61.3 trillion of GDP in 2019. With the digitalization of businesses, more than 401.3 trillion of the budgets of government agencies and service companies is allocated to IT solutions.

The health crisis has heightened interest in digital solutions and accelerated digital transformation programs for business, public service, and consumer applications. In 2021, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications signed two agreements, one between the NGO Digital Transformation Alliance (DTA) and the other between villab-hub, a startup specializing in artificial intelligence and technological innovation focused on drone manufacturing.
The enterprise software market in Cameroon is estimated at €35 million in 2021. The market is expected to grow by 10,051 TEUs per year until 2025, reaching approximately €51 million.
